Kaladana or Ipomoea hederacea is an Ayurvedic plant used for the treatment of-of skin diseases, fever, headache, worm infestation and for inducing purgation. It is called Krishnabeeja in Ayurved.
Kala Dana Chota is the ivy-leaved morning
glory, is a flowering plant in the bindweed family. Like most members of the family,
it is a climbing vine with alternate leaves on twining stems. The Black Seed
Small flowers are blue to rose-purple with a white inner throat and emerge in
summer and continue until late fall.
A twining plant indigenous to India. The seeds
are about 5 millimeters in length; and are nearly black in color, except at the
micropyle, where they are brown. In shape they resemble the quarter of an
orange, and usually bear a shallow groove on the dorsal surface. Kala Dana
Chota is a purgative.
It is an annual with a tap root. The stems are
up to 8 feet in length and climb by twining or trail over the ground. The stems
are green or purple in color, and pubescent with long reflexed white hairs. The
leaves are alternate, petiolate, cordate or 3-lobed in outline, and pubescent.
The petiole is pubescent with long white hairs. Flowers are produced solitary
or in 2-3 flowered cymes from the leaf axils. The peduncle is shorter than the
petiole of the subtending leaf and is pubescent with reflexed hairs. Kala Dana

The calyx has 5 linear-lanceolate lobes that
are longer than the tube and curl outwards at their tips. The calyx tube is
densely pubescent with long white hairs. The corolla is campanulate, sky blue
in color with a white throat. The flowers open at night and close in the
morning. The fruit is a capsule with 3-5 black, wedge shaped seed. Ivy Leaf

The flowers are blue to rose-purple with a
white inner throat and emerge in summer and continue until late fall. The Kala
Dana Chota leaves are typically three-lobed, but sometimes may be five-lobed or
entire. Flowers occur in clusters of one to three and are 2.5-4.5 cm long and
wide. The sepals taper to long, recurved tips and measure 12–24 mm long.
