  • What is Methi Dana (Fenugreek Seeds):
Methi Dana Fenugreek is an herb native to Southern Europe and Asia, but it can be found all over the world. Fenugreek has white flowers, hard yellowish-brown seeds, and a strong aroma.

Fenugreek is related to soy, so people use its fresh and dried seeds, leaves, twigs, and roots as a spice, flavoring agent, and supplement. While more research is necessary, some studies show that fenugreek may have varied health benefits.

Fenugreek has been used medicinally for thousands of years by people in both traditional Indian and Chinese systems of medicine. The seeds can be used as a spice in cooking or ground into flour for breads or other baked goods. Its leaves are often used in soups or curries.

Because fenugreek is so aromatic and flavorful, it's also frequently used in cosmetics, soaps, teas (especially herbal teas), garam masala (a spice blend), condiments like ketchup and mustard (imitation maple syrup products).

    Benefits:
The fenugreek herb has been used for centuries to treat a variety of medical conditions. Fenugreek seeds are rich in trigonelline and lysine, as well as l-tryptophan. The seeds also contain a large amount of saponins and fibers that may account for many of the health benefits of fenugreek.

Reduces Cholesterol - Fenugreek contains saponins that help reduce the body’s absorption of cholesterol from fatty foods. Some studies also indicate saponins to have a role to play in reducing the body’s production of cholesterol, especially the LDL or bad cholesterol.

    How to use:

    • Lightly crush a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds.
    • Soak them in a cup of freshly boiled water and steep it for 1 to 3 hours (the longer you steep, higher the benefits).
    • Strain the tea, add honey and lemon to taste and drink it hot or cold.
    • You can add tea leaves or other herbs too for a different flavor!
