What is Nagarmotha Roots Powder (Cyperus Rotundus):

Cyperus rotundus, also known as Indian pennywort, is a perennial grass-like plan that produces a tuft of culms around 10 - 50cm tall. The plant spreads rapidly at the roots by means of slender rhizomes, these produce a tuber at their end from which a new tuft of culms develops.

The tubers are a popular herbal medicine in many areas in which it grows, and they are listed in the Pharmacopoeias of several countries. They are harvested from the wild for local use and trade, mainly as a medicine but also for food, essential oils and basketry. Sometimes they are also cultivated for their edible tubers in tropical regions.
Cyperus rotundus is widespread with stable populations and does not face any major threats. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
