What is Shirish Chaal (Siris Bark):
Siris is a deciduous tree that grows in urban areas. It's a medium-sized tree with good quality timber. All parts of the plant are used in Ayurvedic medicine. The tree is mentioned often in ancient Sanskrit literature.

The medium to large tree has gray-brown bark, and its leaves have bipinnate structure like tamarind leaves but larger than that. The primary leaflets are oblong, with 6 to 8 pairs of ultimate leaflets opposite and 6 to 8 pairs of smaller secondary leaflets. These leaflets are asymmetric, blunt, and 2.5 to 4 cm long. Flowers are mimosa-like clusters on stems near leaf tips, 5-6 cm across, cream or yellowish-white in color with numerous long stamens; each flower has numerous long stamens as well. The fruit is flat, linear pods with many seeds in each pod; these pods persist after leaf fall and often sound rattling in the wind when they fall from the tree. The bark has rough grey brown color with flaky inner bark (reddish) and outermost part split into long segments

USES:

Shirisha bark has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries, most notably as an astringent in Chinese medicine and as an anti-inflammatory agent in Ayurvedic medicine. Albizia lebbeck bark and seed astringent are used against diarrhea due to its anti-inflammatory properties which prevents bacterial growth by killing microorganisms which cause illness by inhibiting their reproduction or growth process.

BENEFITS:

It also has many medicinal properties like antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-allergic, antidermatosis and antidysenteric. These properties make it very useful in treating bronchitis. The bark of this plant is used as an astringent against boils and coughs. The root is used as a poultice on boils to treat them effectively.

It also provides relief from diarrhea and dysentery due to its powerful astringent property which kills bacteria present in these diseases by restricting their growth or by absorbing water from inside the cells of microorganisms thus inhibiting their reproduction or growth process.
