Rupa Makki/Roopa Makki:

Rupa Makki, an Ayurvedic medicine, formed of from an ore of Copper and Iron Pyrite. It has bitter, sweet principles. It can act as an Ayurvedic treatment of diabetes, piles, skin diseases etc. This medicine must be strictly taken only under medical supervision. It maintains the Balances of Kapha and Pitta Dosha. Rupa Makki consists of useful nutrients like iron and copper. And these nutrients are very essential components that keep the working of many biological functions in the body. Copper and iron both are essential for formation of Red blood cells (erythrocytes). Copper helps in the absorption of iron in the body and iron is necessary for the formation of hemoglobin.

The current identity of Roopa Makki(Raupya-Makshik) is disputed. As per descriptions found in Ayurveda, Roopa Makki can be tentatively co-related with Marcasite. The mineral Marcasite, sometimes called white iron pyrite, is iron sulfide (FeS2). Marcasite is lighter and more brittle. Specimens of marcasite often crumble and break up due to the unstable crystal structure, and it is this crystal structure that is the main difference between marcasite and pyrite. Makshik Stone marcasite has the same chemical formula as pyrite, it crystallizes in a different crystal system, thereby making it a separate mineral. In jewelry, pyrite used as a gem is improperly termed marcasite. True marcasite is never used as a gem, due to its brittle and chemically unstable structure.
