Kanghi Herb is a small shrub in the family
Malvaceae, native to tropic and subtropical regions and sometimes cultivated as
an ornamental. It is found in Tamil Nadu. This Atibala Dry Leaves plant is
often used as a medicinal plant and is considered invasive on certain tropical
islands.
In traditional medicine, in Kanghi various
parts of the plant are used as a demulcent, laxative, diuretic, sedative etc.
The Kanghi Herb plant is very much used in Siddha medicines. The root,
bark, flowers, leaves and seeds are all used for medicinal purposes by Tamils.
It is very easy to propagate this plant. This
is how you will easily succeed pl follow. Fill small pots with potting compost
add seeds and slightly cover with soil keep soil slightly damp cover pot with
see-through foil or glass keep in bright and warm place ideal sprouting
temperature is 28 degree Celsius. The foil or glass should be removed daily to
air the sprouts and to avoid mould formation.
When the first little plants start to show,
take them to a warm and bright place so that they can develop. Generally
speaking, Atibala Dry Leaves is a very low-maintenance plant. Only when
it is relocated it has to slowly get used to the differences in temperature.
Furthermore, it should be kept in shape by trimming it or it might lose its
ability to blossom and start solely growing upwards.

Demulcents of leaves are locally applied to boils and ulcers. Roots are
prescribed in fever, chest affection and urethrities. Abutilon Indicum (Linn.).

indicum leaves showed the presence of amino acids, glucose, fructose and
galactose. From the roots, non–drying oil consisting of various fatty acids
viz. linoleic, oleic, stearic, palmitic, lauric, myristic, caprylic, capric
and unusual fatty acid having C, carbon skeleton, sitosterol, and amyrin from
unsaponifiable matter were yielded.
